Drillunit has added light weight air-electric quill units for drilling and tapping to its product family. These units are ideal for performing light-duty machining operations, including robotic end-of-arm tooling. This new line of air-electric units is particularly targeted toward automotive, electronics, appliance, aerospace, wood, plastics and any other industries that can benefit from lightweight and less costly quill units.

Cost and Weight Savings
For more than three decades, Drillunit has been the leading supplier of heavy-duty mechanical, hydraulic and servo-controlled quills and slide units to machine-tool builders. We are now complementing these lines with a new low-cost, lightweight air-electric quill unit series. These units are offered in two classes. The first category offers 150 to 440 pounds of thrust in models that weigh between 13 and 64 pounds. The second category is somewhat larger and delivers up to 1,325 pounds of thrust in units that weight between 100 and 140 pounds.

How They Work
Spindles in the Drillunit air-electric line are driven by 230 volt or 460 volt 3-phase electric motors. These units range from 1/6 HP to 2 HP and operate from 180RPM to 7,200 RPM depending on what model is being used. The units are air-actuated and powered by air cylinders that operate with out restriction for rapid advance. An infinitely adjustable hydraulic "hydro-checker" is incorporated into the unit for precise feed control. Air pressure required to deliver rated thrust for all models is 70 PSI and operation can be actuated-by and/or synchronized with other production processes by either electrical or pneumatic signals.

A Wide Variety of Applications
Ideal for equipping robotic arms with accurate drill/tap-feeding capabilities, the Drillunit air-electric line is well-suited for all types of light-duty operations. These operations are frequently found in the automotive electronics, aerospace, appliance, wood, and plastics industries.

The Drillunit Promise
The entire line of Drillunit air-electric quill units is backed by our outstanding reputation for performance, quality, durability and service.
